About Us
KAREU MPYA CBO is an acronym for Kenya Agriculture Reforms Elgon United (KAREU) Managing Programmes for Youth in Agriculture (MPYA) Community Based Organization (CBO). The organization is based in Cheptais Sub-county, Bungoma County in Western Kenya. KAREU MPYA is a grassroots organization that implements peace, agriculture, governance and environmental projects across Bungoma County, with a mandate of enhancing community resilience against violence and poverty.
This institution is registered in Mt. Elgon Constituency with certificate registration No.029 with the ministry of culture and social services with reference to the Government of Kenya rules. The KAREU MPYA CBO office is located at Salama House, Next to Cheptais Stawisha/FOSA Bank along Cheptais-Hospital Road.
The institution was founded and registered as a community based organization on 4th August 2003-. The CBO among other activities has an intention to realize a sustainably managed environment, environmentally friendly projects and programmes, alleviation of rural poverty, Peace and enhanced community resilience through community-based interventions. We also focus on cross cutting issues that include HIV and AIDS and gender issues. The institution also wishes to mobilize resources to support the vulnerable people in the society especially people with disability, women, the aged and youth.
The overall objective of the NGO is to support and facilitate projects that are aimed at peace and conflict management, poverty reduction through improved livelihood systems and the conservation of community natural resources and initiatives for enhanced management and good governance.
